Temagamis

Two-week Temagamis (ages 10-11) have a 5 night / 6 day canoe trip. These campers experience the rugged beauty of the greater Temagami district.  Following several days of in-camp fun and instruction, they paddle their way through history, on lakes such as Obabika (and its nearby Old Growth forest), Lady Evelyn (and up to the slides at Centre Fall), Shishkong (with its legendary Stone Pillar), Diamond (with its ancient pictographs), Tupper (climbing mysterious Maple Mountain), and Elk (with its nearby Mountain Chutes).

We pay special attention to our young campers with extra help in camp and on trip.  Our Temagami program supports 10 and 11 year-old boys and girls as they learn the basics of camp life and canoe tripping.  We believe that a good foundation of skills gleaned from the teachings of caring and competent leaders gives our young campers remarkable confidence.  Parents are often surprised to observe that their child has learned to stern a canoe, carry a pack, and contribute to campsite life in authentic ways at such a young age.
