Trent Weekend – 41st Annual Trent Temagami Colloquium

This past weekend at Camp Wanapitei was a happening weekend (Thursday – Sunday).  Trent University and their Canadian Studies program came to Wanapitei for their 41st annual academic gathering.  What makes this event so amazing is the dedicated professors who are determined to be out on the land with their students all day Friday and Saturday.  There is nothing like the outdoor classroom and I think most who attend would agree. Students gained a real appreciation for the Temagami area by both hiking and canoeing this amazing landscape.  To walk and paddle the land Native Canadians have done so for hundreds of years is significant to so many.  In addition to being on the land several seminars/sessions were given both in the beautiful Chateau and in the Dining Hall.  Saturday evening saw another classic Camp Wanapitei square dance complete with an amazing band. Despite the weather being overcast, spirits were high, the food was fantastic and much was shared and learned.  A great way to close out the season.
