Harvest Weekend 2014

August 22, 2014 - August 24, 2014

This year we have three canoe trips paddling under the bridge during the morning of Saturday, August 23rd.  There are two Voyageur II trips and one Voyageur I trip.  We are thrilled with each group’s progress thus far and can’t wait to see them back “home”.

If you are joining us, here is a schedule to help you with your plans.

Friday August 22nd

HARVEST “DAY-BEFORE-THE-CAMP-BANQUET” FESTIVITIES AT THE CHATEAU

Times for paddling under the Bridge are as follows:

10AM Bay Trip A (led by Angus MacPhail and Emma Hobbs)

10:30AM Bay Trip B (led by Sierra Mulvenna and Emily Miller)

11AM and 11:30AM 2-Week Coureur de Bois – 2 groups

MID AFTERNOON 2-Week Pioneers – 2 groups

Chateau host Hannah will continue welcoming families for the weekend festivities.  On Friday, they will be joined by Megan Moore, gourmet chef and Wanapitei mom (Eliza – VII 2012 and Emma – VII 2014) to host our annual Gourmet Dinner featuring a selection of delicious appetizers, a hearty meal and some lovely desserts.

Pre-dinner treats will begin around 5PM and the main course will be at 7PM(ish).

Saturday August 23rd

HARVEST NIGHT

In the morning, we welcome back our final trips to come under the bridge for the summer.

Times for paddling under the bridge are as follows:

10AM Voyageur Is (led by Gill Thompson and Andrew Brown)

10:30AM Voyageur II Group A (led by North de Pencier and Jamie Wilkie)

11:15AM Voyageur II Group B (led by Charles Heath and Sophie Roher)

It’s always helpful if parents of the campers paddling under the bridge are front and centre on the bridge as their child paddles under.

Here’s how the rest of the day looks:

12:30PM Lunch.  Guests will eat on the Chateau side, and campers and staff will eat at the Dining Hall.

2:00pm ish we will begin the trip welcome backs for the VII trips.  This happens on the grass outside of the dining hall.  Following trip welcome backs for the VII’s will be our Camp-wide Regatta.  There will be lots of games on the water and throughout camp.  All visitors are welcome to watch and cheer for their favorite team.

6:00pm (or thereabouts) Harvest Banquet Celebration begins.  Buffet style, it will be held outside the dining hall, weather permitting.

Should the weather not cooperate we’ll eat in the dining hall.  It will be very tight for a group the size we are expecting, so please if the weather is not cooperating bring your most positive/flexible selves as we adjust to the cozy (very cozy) confines of the dining hall .

7:30pm Following the banquet, camper awards and trip skits will be presented, again outside weather permitting.  Camp chairs and blankets are a great idea to bring with you, as the evening temperatures can be cool at this time of year.  You will probably also want flashlights for the walk back to the Chateau or your tents at the end of the evening.

Sunday August 24th

7:00am Breakfast for the campers at the dining hall.  Those taking the bus home head for the parking lot just after 8:00am

8:00am Breakfast for guests at the Chateau.

8AM to 10AM Camper pick-ups and departure.  Parents picking up their campers should plan to be at their child’s cabin between 8AM and 10AM.  The office will be open for Chateau check outs and any last minute camp store souvenirs.

IMPORTANT!!!

Please note that the Chateau rooms are fully booked for August 22nd and 23rd, however tenting is still available at Chateau point.  It is important that you fill out the Chateau booking form that is attached even if you are tenting.  We will need to know the date and time (needed for meal planning) of you arrival and the number of adults and children (with ages) registering.   If you have already registered for our Harvest Celebrations with a booking form and have not received a confirmation from us, please email Erin at [email protected].  Booking form can be found here.
