Community Weekend 2019
July 25, 2019 @ 12:00 PM - July 28, 2019 @ 5:00 PM
Join us for Wanapitei’s Community Weekend Thursday July 25th to Sunday July 28th featuring a cultural journey with alumnus/award winning documentary filmmaker/historian/journalist James Cullingham. We will be treated to screenings of two of his films including the 1993 production Temagami – A Living Title to the Land, followed by a Q & A with the filmmaker.
Weekend highlights:
- After July camp ends on Thursday the 25th we will offer a tour of the new kitchen and an afternoon/evening at the Chateau with a jaunt up the Red Squirrel River to the falls by canoe/kayak. Dinner will be on the infamous Chateau porch and the evening will be topped off with a wood fired sauna.
- Friday July 26th and Saturday July 27th will feature packed lunch excursions to Napoleon Mountain/Ferguson Cliffs and/or other points of interest with alumnus/community builder Ben Wolfe and other alumni. On Friday evening we will be reviving the Chateau fish fry in honour of Bella White followed by a collection of stories from our wood canvas fleet told by Chairman of the Board, Glenn Hodgins, and a campfire finale. Saturday evening will begin with wine and cheese selected by “Big Phil” leading into a BBQ with the camp staff and an evening with James Cullingham.
- Sunday July 28th we will offer morning canoe instruction for anyone wishing to learn/hone their tandem or solo skills.
