The Wanapitei Chateau is located where the Red Squirrel River meets Lake Temagami — an area of breathtaking beauty across the bridge from Camp Wanapitei. Historically a hunting and fishing lodge, the Chateau continues to be a favorite spot for nature enthusiasts (including hunters and anglers), families looking for a summer vacation, and parents of current Wanapitei campers. Additionally, the lodge is a fantastic launching point for a wilderness canoe trip in Temagami and a decadent way to finish a wilderness canoe trip.
The lodge has 9 rooms ranging from double occupancy (double bed or single beds) to dormitory-style with four beds. Many rooms have their own private balconies overlooking Lake Temagami. Linens and towels are supplied.
Facilities
Beautiful, wide wrap-around porches and balconies provide a delightful way to experience relaxing and communing with family and friends. Flush toilets and shower facilities are available for all guests (including those who choose to camp in a tent). The main floor is equipped with large, comfortable couches and chairs, tables for board games and puzzles, and open space for gathering with friends. A grand staircase leads to the second-floor living area and bedrooms.
Incredible Food
The Chateau chef is hired for their ability to produce beautiful meals. The compliments have been numerous over the past few years. The Chateau food is fantastic. We cater to special diets if we know about them in advance!

Wanapitei’s Lake Temagami location has played host to a number of conferences over the years, including the Ontario Environmental Network and the UN World Commission on Forestry and Sustainable Development.
