Sunshine and Fun

Today was our first full day of glorious sunshine and boy do we deserve it!  The wettest pre camp training and also arrival day EVER on the back of an incredible wet spring led us to enjoy this day more than ever.  Lake Temagami is high – the beach between the Chateau and Chapel Point…

When It Snows In May

“It’s snowing,” Asa whispered from a top bunk yesterday morning. Several of the VII leaders and spring staff, including myself, had opted to spend the night in Maki House with the woodstove going. The forecast had been calling for below freezing temperatures overnight and no one was really interested in sleeping in the unheated cabins. We’re…

May Day! May Day!

It’s May.  I can’t believe it.  Where did April go?  For that matter, where did the whole winter go?  Yesterday, on May 1st, I woke with a mixture of excitement and pure stress.  “It’s May already!  We’ve got so much to do!  Mayday!” Take a breath.  Let it out.  Do that again. May is an…

Gathering

Today is our second full day of camp.  As I sit and write this it really feels like we’ve all been here  together for longer.  Last evening I checked in with every group of trip leaders and the way they  described their campers to me sounded like they had known them all for days.  Camp…

Summer 2015: Look’s Who Back (Volume 2)

More staff announcements!  Here are more of the faces you’ll be seeing around camp (and on lakes and rivers across Ontario and Quebec) this summer.  Meet our 2015 WLIT and VI leaders!               In July, Tori Miller and Angus MacPhail will lead our WLIT program.  Tori is currently finishing…
