Liam

 Liam Agnew

From Vancouver, British Columbia. Liam recently graduated from Outdoor Recreation Management at Capilano University in BC, and just got back from ten weeks travelling in South America. His favourite activities include cooking, reading, and playing board games. Great Moment in Camping: “Hiking through the Chilean national park of Torres del Paine with Cameron MacPhail.” Liam will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his eleventh year at camp and second year on staff.

Sam Sam Angel

Sam has recently completed an HBSc. degree in Microbiology and Immunology at Dalhousie University. Seeing the completion of his degree, Sam has decided to move to Montreal to pursue his art. His favourite activities include rock climbing, hockey, doodling and cooking. Great Moment in Camping: “Finally reaching the confluence of the Thelon and Hanbury rivers on my VII”. Sam will be leading trips this summer. This is his tenth year at camp and his fifth year on staff.

From Hódmezővásárhely, Hungary. Minka is studying to be a teacher, with a focus on English and German.  Her favourite activities include all forms of art, reading, cycling, basketball and meeting new people.  She is well travelled and eager to see as much of the world as she can.  She is new to the camping world, and is ready to collect as many memories as possible.  Minka will be our Arts and Crafts Instructor this summer.  This is her first summer at Wanapitei.

From Toronto, Ontario. Grant is working at the downtown Mountain Equipment Co-op in Toronto. He was a drummer in a steel pan band that participated in festivals in Australia, Scotland and Italy. Great Moment in Camping: “One of my favorite camping memories was day 12 on VI. We had just completed the hardest 12 days of tripping I’ve ever had through various “creeks”, log jams, and a swamp. Then at the end of the “Creek That Shall Not Be Named” the sun came out we got to really paddle for the first time in almost two weeks and the feeling of accomplishment, even halfway through trip, was awesome!” Grant will be leading trips in July and serving as our Program Director for August. This is his 11th year at camp and his fifth year on staff.

Kai Bruce

From Owen Sound, Ontario. Kai is currently working for Environment and Climate Change Canada and next fall will be starting his Masters in Urban Planning at McGill.  He enjoys nordic skiing and making house music in his free time. Great Moment in Camping: “As its my last year at Wanapitei, I’m looking back to my first few days at camp as a C de B. They were great. And in retrospect they may be the great-est because I’m still maxing out with the same dawgs I met on my first day and sometimes I cry its so beautiful”. Kai will be leading VII this summer! This is his 13th summer at camp and his 7th year on staff.

Megan BuchkowskiMegan Buchkowski

From Peterborough, Ontario. Megan  just finished her Masters in Music, Mind and Technology in Finland.  Her favourite activities include playing piano, signing, dancing the Lindy Hop and improv theatre.  Great Moment in Camping: “This past September. I went for a 10-day hiking trip in Lofoten, Norway. After spending 5 days hiking in the mountains, my friend and I had come down to sea level and ate dinner under the light of a full moon. Around midnight, the northern lights appeared directly above us. I had never seen them so close and bright.”  Megan will be our Assistant Tripping Director this summer.  After a year hiatus, this is her 11th summer at Wanapitei and her seventh year on staff.

Connor Cepella

Connor Cepella

From Ottawa, Ontario. Connor completed a Combined Honours Degree at Dalhouise University in Halifax, NS. Connor spent this past fall trekking in India and Nepal, and will be returning to Haida Gwaii, BC, this spring for his fourth season of tree planting. Connor loves to paddle with family and friends, which he has been doing for as long as he can remember. Great Moment in Camping: “Coming under the bridge after leading my very first trip at Camp Wanapitei.”  Connor will be leading trips this summer. This will be his 13th year at camp and his fifth year on staff.

FraserFraser Cepella

From Ottawa, Ontario, his favorite activities include canoeing, kayaking (he spent this year working and paddling in Nepal and living in a hut beside the Nile River), a good book and good food.  Great Moment in Camping: “Completing the upstream portion of my V2. I remember feeling invincible as if nothing could be harder or more beautiful at the same time. During my exam and project season at school I remembered that feeling in order to push through the mountains of school work.”  Fraser will be leading VII this summer.  This is his 15th summer at Wanapitei and his fifth year on staff.

Mariya ChugayMariya Chugay

From Vancouver, British Columbia.  Mariya is studying Marketing at Concordia University in Montreal.  Favourite activities include visual arts, photography, skiing, ultimate frisbee and travel.  Great Moment in Camping: “There’s a place up the Sunshine Coast in Vancouver, British Colombia that I used to return to every summer as a kid. This camping spot holds a lot of childhood memories for me and is where I first got involved with water sports.” Mariya will be the Host at the Chateau this summer. This is her first summer at Wanapitei.

From Toronto, Ontario.  Hannibal is studying English and Art History at McGill University in Montreal.  His favourite activities include tripping (of course), rugby, football, writing and art.  Great Moment in Camping: “Reaching the Coal River on V2.” Hannibal will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his fourth year at camp and his first year on staff.

 

Taj DysonTaj Dyson

From Guelph, Ontario.  Taj is studying Pure and Applied Science at Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec.  His favourite hobbies include biking, looking up time travel theories online, teaching kids to code and playing Overwatch. Great Moment in Camping: “On Day 26 of my V2, we were windbound on tiny Markham Lake.  We awoke to tents barely holding together under the wind and rain.  After some sitting around and well-deserved rest, I resolved to rally the others to play some Dungeons and Dragons.  I donned my Gore-tex cloak and ventured out into the grey, windswept waste and shouted against the storm for the others to join me in my tent.Reunited as a family again, under one thin fabric roof, spirits were high.” Taj will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his sixth year at Wanapitei and his first year on staff.

From Ottawa, Ontario. Megan just graduated from Nepean High School and is looking to take a gap year to work and travel. Her favourite activities include spontaneous adventures, cooking, and reading a good book.  Great Moment in Camping: “Canoeing through Killarney with my family in the middle of the night, without headlamps, all in one canoe.  We put a hole in the front of our canoe after paddling, full speed, straight into a rock… we didn’t laugh about it then but we certainly do years later!” Megan will be helping at the Chateau in August.  A former camper at Wanapitei, this is her first year on staff.

Jacob FischerJacob Fischer

From Toronto, Ontario. Jacob is studying Philosophy at Trent University in Peterborough. His interests include musical theatre and science fiction. His Favourite Moment in Camping: “When I returned after my evac on my VII, seeing my group’s genuine excitement to see me return and realizing that they missed me as much as I missed all of them”. This is Jacobs’s twelfth year at camp and his second year on staff.

From Toronto, Ontario. Residing in the city of Halifax, Severen is currently studying Contemporary Studies at the University of King’s College and Latin American Studies at Dalhousie University. Her favourite activities include reading, sudoku, and conversing. Great Moment in Camping: “Although there are many, a favourite moment in camping was, as a Temag camper, getting to stay up late with my leaders and watching an overwhelming number of shooting stars pass through a particularly dark sky.” Severen will be leading trips this summer. This is her tenth year at camp and her third year on staff.

Helen FrancisHelen Francis

From Belfast, Ireland. Helen  is currently studying studying Dentistry at Trinity College in Dublin. Her favourite activities include sailing, drawing, drama and music. Great Moment in Camping: “Camping under the stars in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and singing traditional Moroccan songs with he the locals.” Helen will be teaching sailing this summer. This is her first summer at Wanapitei.

 

JackJack Gardiner

From Aurora, Ontario.  Jack is studying Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia: Okanagan Campus.  His favorite activities include playing running, hiking, and pretty much anything outdoors.  Great Moment in Camping: “Taking a nap while Sam read to us in the middle of the day on James Bay.”  Jack will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his tenth year at camp and his second year on staff.

From Richmond Hill, Ontario.  Logan is studying Life Sciences at Queen’s University.  Her favourite activities include soccer, yoga and teaching snow boarding.  Great Moment in Camping: “My greatest moment in camping was one of the final days on V2 when we were paddling on the Arctic Ocean. It was a pretty windy day and we soon realized that the weather gods had blessed us with a tail wind, so we decided to open up a large camp tarp and use it as a massive sail across all the canoes. We sped along the ocean on this beautiful sunny day and pretended that we were pirates conquering the Arctic waters.”  Logan will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is her sixth year at camp and her second year on staff.

Emma photoEmma Gibson-Bray

From Kingston, Ontario.  Emma studied Child, Youth and Family Studies at the University of Guelph and has a Bachelor of Applied Science. Her favourite activities include all things outdoorsy, singing and playing ukulele, travelling and cuddling her cat.  Great Moment in Camping: “Setting the record for fastest circumnavigation of Gambier Island (in canoes) on the Howe Sound. 33 hours in total for the trip – 18 hours of paddling in 24 hours!.”  Emma will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is her first summer at Wanapitei.

Eamonn GoganEamonn Gogan

From Toronto, Ontario.  Eamonn is has recently graduated from the University of Guelph with a BAS in Biochemistry and History. In the fall he will start an MA at McGill where he will study history. Eamonn is an avid “collager” and enjoys spending his free time at camp in the arts and crafts building working on his next masterpiece.  Great Moment in Camping: “Paddling into Moosonee on my Bay Trip.”  Eamonn will be leading trips this summer.  This is his sixth year at camp and his fourth year on staff

From Toronto, Ontario. Olivia has just completed her first year at Concordia University majoring in Communication Studies and Moving Images. Her favourite activities include skiing, writing, and film. Great Moment in Camping: “Canoe paddle boarding on a snow cap on V2.” Olivia will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is her seventh year at camp and her second year on staff.

 

Henry GouldHenry Gould

From Toronto, Ontario. Henry is studying Engineering Physics at Queen’s University. His favourite activities include climbing, pickup sports, and adventuring. Great Moment in Camping: “Our second day on VII, we paddled around a point just east of Kugluktuk, Nunavut, only to find the bay packed with ice. We then spent two days paddling around and hopping from ice flow to ice flow, until the mouth of the Rae River.” Henry will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is his sixth year at camp and his third year on staff.

Pearce GouldPearce Gould

From Toronto, Ontario.  Pearce is studying at the Desaultes School of Management at McGill University in Montreal.  His favourite activities include rugby, skiing, travelling and learning guitar. Great Moment in Camping: “Finally reaching our height of land on VII and realizing we were done our upstream.  I was super excited to finally be able to paddle and swim in deep water!” Pearce will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is his seventh year at camp and first year on staff.

Tom HarrisonTom Harrison

From Leeds, England.  Tom graduated from Keele University in Staffordshire, England with a degree in Geography.  His favourite activities include travel, watching and playing soccer.  He is a Leeds supporter and recent Toronto FC convert. Great Moment in Camping: “Camping on the Howe Sound, so much better than camping in England!” Tom will be helping in our kitchen this summer. This is his first year at Wanapitei.

Riley HeavensRiley Heavens

From Montreal, Quebec.  Riley will be starting Dawson College in the fall to study Social Sciences.  Her favourite activities include drawing and photography.  Great Moment in Camping: “I was with a couple friends and we just laid on the grass and watched the stars for hours.” Riley returns to be our Nanny this summer, taking care of Charlie.  This is her second summer at Wanapitei.

 

Thomas HeinrichThomas Heinrich

From Montreal, Quebec. Thomas is a Design student at Concordia University. He loves building things, drawing, painting, biking and playing guitar. Great Moment in Camping: “Paddling into Tuktuyaktuk at the end of V2. At the moment I just felt a mix of amazement at what we had just accomplished and sadness that this unbelievable experience was already over. We had just spent 52 days in one of the most beautiful and remote places in the world, had seen things few people have had the privilege to see and pushed ourselves to limits we didn’t think we could reach. I think it was only when we touched down on the muddy beach in Tuk, that we realized what we had just accomplished.” Thomas will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is his sixth year at camp and his second year on staff.

From Toronto, Ontario. Molly has been studying Arts at McGill University. Her favourite activities include playing guitar and playing piano. Great Moment in Camping: “Seeing the Northern Lights on my VI.” Molly will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is her eighth year at camp and her second year on staff.

 

Alex HodginsAlex Hodgins

From Perth, Ontario. Alex is a student at Queen’s University in Global Development. He has worked as a river guide in New Zealand, studied on exchange in Australia and volunteered with
Canada World Youth in Indonesia. At Queen’s Alex has been a member of the Nordic Ski team, acted in a Shakespeare play, is a member of the juggling club and volunteers for Soul Food, a local charity organization. Greatest moment in camping: “At the start of every summer coming to the head of the Jack Pine trail feeling the breeze rising from Lake Temagami, seeing Mount Ferguson off in the distance and realizing that I am home.” Alex will be leading a V1 trip this summer. This is his 17th year at camp and sixth year on staff.

AliciaAlicia Hodgins

Alicia is currently completing a M.Sc. Rehabilitation degree at Queens University looking at how people walk post-stroke. Her favourite activities include: canoeing, hiking, cross country skiing, cooking, and watching her favourite team in the playoffs #beleaf! Great moment in camping: “My first time sterning in rapids. I was on a family canoe trip on the French River when I was 7 or 8 and it was the biggest rapid of the trip called Blue Chute. I felt so proud after because we hadn’t dumped!” Alicia will be leading VII this summer. It is her 19th year at camp and her 7th year on staff.

From Perth, Ontario. Frieda is studying Medical Sciences at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Her favorite activities include camping, climbing, painting, photography, volleyball and canoeing. Great Moment in Camping: “Finally reaching our downstream on VII when there was just enough water for us to sit on the deck plates of our canoes and push off shore on either side as we twisted down a little mountain stream remarkably fast.” Frieda will be leading trips this summer. This is her fourteenth year at camp and her third year on staff.

Morgan Hodgins

From Guelph, Ontario.  Morgan is going into her fourth year of Nursing at the University of Ottawa.  Her favorite activities include outdoor sports, running, skiing, biking, climbing and swimming. Great Moment in Camping: “When I was 12 I went on a family canoe trip down the French River to our cottage just outside of Killarney on Georgian Bay. On our second last day we had to go around a very exposed section of land leaving us vulnerable to the wind and weather. We decided to wake up at 4am while the water was still calm to do this safely. By the time we were on the water the sun was just rising behind us shadowing us in its red light, while the water looked like glass. I still love getting up before sunrise because of the peace and calmness that we rarely experience while in the city.” Morgan will be leading trips this summer. This is her 17th year at camp and fifth year on staff.

rom Fernie, British Columbia. Cori-Anne has an undergraduate degree in animal biology from the University of British Columbia. During the winter she volunteers at a veterinary clinic and works odd jobs. She hopes to be a veterinarian one day. Her favourite activities include playing hockey, volleyball, and travelling around the world. She spent this past January coaching hockey in the Indian Himalayas and playing in the highest altitude ice hockey game ever! Her Great Moment in Camping is: “Paddling out into James Bay at 3am in the pitch black and frosty cold. Everyone was quiet and in their own thoughts when the northern lights lit up the sky above us. There were strands of green, white, red, and blue dancing against the complete darkness. The whole group was in awe and it made the night an incredible paddle.” Cori-Anne will be leading trips this summer. This is her 18th summer at camp and her fifth year on staff.

Kim huismanKimberley Huisman

From Fernie, British Columbia. Kimberley is studying Environmental Science at Concordia University in Montreal. Her favorite activities include hockey – she has been playing since she was four years old, and for several years at the competitive level for both mens and womens teams. Great Moment in Camping: “On V2 when a group of about five of us decided to hike up the hill behind our campsite on the creek that was our upstream section. It was steep and for a while it seemed never ending but then all of a sudden we emerged above the treeline and the view was unbeleivable. We could see the creek behind us that we had travelled up for the past week aswell as the lake that was our goal up ahead. It was also our first peek at the mountains all around us, which were incredible. It was so exciting and it really made us realize that all our hard work was definitely worth it and we could fully appreciate where we were headed and what we had done.” Kimberley will be leading trips this summer. This is her 15th year at camp and third year on staff.

Charles HunterCharles Hunter

From Toronto, Ontario.  Charles is studying Engineering at Queen’s University. His favourite hobbies include basketball, squash and weightlifting.  Great Moment in Camping: “Completely losing track of time due to the 24 hour sunlight on VII.” Charles will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his eight summer at Wanapitei and first year on staff.

 

Adrian HutchinsonAdrian Hutchinson

From Paris, Ontario.  Adrian is studying architecture at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario.  His favourite hobbies include rock climbing, mountain biking, drawing and photography.  He also hosts a radio show during the school year.  Great Moment in Camping: “Staying up all night watching the watching the Northern Lights while tree planting in Northern Saskatchewan or down river saunas all along the Dumoine River. ” Adrian will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his first summer at Wanapitei.

Tinesha Hutt

From Burlington, Ontario.  Tinesha is starting the Veterinary Assistant program at Northern College this. all. Her favourite activities include visual and creative arts, journalism, climbing, and portaging.  Great Moment in Camping: “When I was 16, I completed a solo 5KM canoe portage through the rain on the edge of a cliff.” Tinesha will working in the office this summer.  This is her first year at Wanapitei.

 

Ian KarovitchIan Karovitch

From Ottawa, Ontario.  Ian is studying Biosource Engineering at McGill University. His favorite activities include guitar, swimming, rock climbing, downhill and cross-country skiing, and canoeing.  Great Moment in Camping: “on a family canoe trip I did in August just a week after returning from camp in July. Not only was the trip extremely fun because I brought my dog with me, but I realized that I had all the skills and knowledge needed to have a seamless trip that could only have been acquired from years of tripping. That was a satisfying feeling.” Ian will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his tenth year at camp and his first year on staff.

 Cameron MacPhailCameron MacPhail

From Vancouver, British Columbia.  Cameron is studying Biology at Queen’s University and has just finished travelling South America for five and a half months. His favorite activities include rugby, canoeing, rock climbing and biology.  Great Moment in Camping: “the last night on VII, going swimming in the Arctic Ocean and enjoying my final hours at the edge of the world.” Cameron will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his eleventh year at camp and second year on staff.

From Toronto, Ontario.  Kai is studying Marine and Fresh Water Biology at the University of Guelph. His favorite activities include rugby, rock climbing, hockey, sailing and travel.  Great Moment in Camping: “Every year at Wanapitei has made me fall deeper in love with camping and paddling” Kai will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is his seventh year at camp and his first year on staff.

From Toronto, Ontario.  Tess is a  graduate of Dalhousie University and is working on her Masters at the University of Toronto this fall.  Her favorite activities include crafts, rock climbing, ultimate Frisbee, traveling and spending time with friends.  Great Moment in Camping: “I have had so many great moments at camp that it is hard to pick just one. The last night of V2 we set sky lanterns into the air to recognize what we did and to commemorate what we had accomplished.”  Tess will be leading VII this summer.  This is her 18th year at camp and sixth year on staff.

  OwenOwen Melanson

Owen was born in Ottawa, Ontario and has lived internationally in Italy, Costa Rica and Barbados.  Owen has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and has completed his Cambridge English Language Teaching for Adults (CELTA) certification. In 2017, he coached the Indian Women’s National Ice Hockey Team to 4th place at the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia in Bangkok in.  This past year, Owen worked for ALIVE Outdoors,, spent 3 months with his family in Barbados and spent 3 months travelling in India.  Additionally, he helped organize and set the Guiness World Record for highest altitude hockey game played (14,400 ft.) in the Greater Himalayan mountain range.  Great Moment in Camping: “Sleeping at the base of the highest active volcano in the world in Cotopaxi, Ecuador. We watched as the sunlight left the mountain range and the stars appeared in the cloudless sky. The next morning, I unzipped the tent flap to watch the volcano catch the first light of sunrise.”  Owen will be leading trips this summer.  This is Owen’s seventh year at camp and fifth year on staff.

From Ottawa, Ontario. Mark is studying at Mount Allison University. He loves climbing trees, singing and dancing, and general silliness. Great Moment in Camping: “This wasn’t camping per se, but it was great. While leading a group of students in team building activities, I suddenly had an inspiration that we should drop what we were doing and go for a walk in the woods. I announced to the group that Derek, one of the students, would lead us into the forest. After a few minutes of trekking, we stumbled upon a moose jaw, which amazed the kids. Moments later, Logan, another one of the students, decided to teach us all how to find salamanders, and showed us the tunnels some worms dig in fallen over trees. I could never have predicted any of that would happen. We went to the woods, and we were amazed!” Mark will be leading trips this summer. This is his 10th year at camp and fifth year on staff.

 

 

 

 

Sasha Pickering

From the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. Sasha spends her winters in the mountains. She enjoys art galleries, live music, good coffee and being in the woods. Great Moment in Camping: “I can’t say I have one. When I think about camping, I think about the little things I love. Waking up to sunshine, listening to the pelting of rain on the tent, blissful silences in the canoe and looking for moose in a swamp.” Sasha will be leading trips this summer.  This is her ninth year at camp and her fifth on staff.

Dana Price

From the Timmins, Ontario. Dana is studying Integrated Science at McMaster University. Her  favourite hobbies include sports and dancing. Great Moment in Camping: “Reaching the final stretch of the Thelon River on VII. We had been pushing hard against strong winds on lakes for many days. The winds often prevented us from paddling and when we did paddle we did so with difficulty and not a lot of speed. We constantly faced headwinds but had to push on to ensure we’d reach our destination and were resultantly pretty tired. Once we reached our last stretch of the Thelon, we had wonderful sunny weather, fast moving current, lots of wildlife sightings, some fun sets, and sufficient speed to raft, drift, sing, and swim.” Dana will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is her thirteenth year at camp and her first on staff.

BernardBernard Rechico-Moisan

From Ottawa, Ontario.  Bernard is currently working in Ottawa, travelling and will study tourism at  Thompson Rivers University in the fall. His favorite activities include hockey, track and field, and sports in general.  Great Moment in Camping: “On V2, we had a 5 kilometer portage in between these two mountains. We had been lake hopping for a few days now so were were pretty tired and this was our last big portage. When we got to the top of this pass, the sun was setting and we could see all the way to the Coppermine. After all the hard work we had done, reaching that lookout felt like such a big accomplishment. It’s these kinds of things that make trip great.”  Bernard will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is his 11wth year at camp and fourth year on staff.

From Ottawa, Ontario.  Alex is studying Architectural Engineering at Carleton University.  His favourite activities include reading, skiing and drawing unusual buildings.  Great Moment in Camping: “That would have to be the first few days of VII. We had a brief ocean paddle between Kugluktuk and the mouth of the Rae, and most of it had become packed with drift ice. The adventure of working and dragging the canoes across a sea of ice floes made for an unforgettable experience.”  Alex will be working on site this summer.  This is his tenth year at camp and his second year on staff.

BrigidBrigid Roeder

From Ottawa, Ontario.  Brigid is working on her Bachelor of Education at McGill University. Her favorite activities include baking pies, skiing and thinking about airplanes.  Great Moment in Camping: “Climbing a mountain on VII and being able to see the stretch of river behind us that we had just dragged up, and the stretch of river ahead of us we still had to travel. It was a moment of realization as to how far we had come, how hard we had worked to earn it, and how truly alone we were in the wild. Plus we knew we were eating a fancy risotto that night.” Brigid will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is her third year at Wanapitei and send year on staff.

From Whitehorse, Yukon.  Sadie has just completed her first year of Performance Dance at Ryerson University. Her favourite activities include canoe tripping and dancing. During the school year you can find Sadie in the studio where she studies classical ballet

Helen ThomasHelen Thomas

From Toronto, Ontario.  Helen completed her undergraduate degree in History of Art at the University of Toronto. Her favourite activities include climbing, reading, cooking, snuggling with her cats, and watching baseball.  Great Moment in Camping: “There was one early morning on the Wanapitei river when we came across two snapping turtles fighting in the water. It was an extraordinary thing to watch and they didn’t seem to even notice us.” Helen will be leading trips this summer. This is her 15th summer at camp and her fifth year on staff.

CarlyCarly Turner

From Maple Ridge, British Columbia.  Carly hopes to attend the West Coast Adventure College’s Outdoor Leadership and Recreation Program. Her favourite activities include hiking, rock climbing, camping, canoeing, and art.  Great Moment in Camping: “The first ever backpacking trip I went on in Tetrahedron Provincial park with 15 of my closest friends. With such a large group, we hiked very slowly, and for many of us it was our first backpacking experience. We all encouraged each other to keep going, sang songs and shared snacks. I remember so vividly seeing the cabin, perched on a cliff above us with the orange midsummer sky as a perfect backdrop, and hearing someone yell from behind me, “NO WAY! IT ACTUALLY EXISTS!”. The humour mixed with relief helped me complete the final 500m scrabble to the cabin to spend three blissful nights in the quietest place I’ve ever had the pleasure of inhabiting. ” Carly will be Program Director in Late July leading trips this summer. This is her second summer at camp and her second year on staff.

Lucas WhitearLucas Whitear

From Scarborough, Ontario.  Lucas is studying multimedia at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. His favourite activities include playing rugby, dragon boat racing, theatre, exploring at watching the Blue Jays.  Great Moment in Camping: “On my V2 when my group did the Dubawnt Canyon portage. It was super long and the buggiest place ever but it was such a spectacular view that none of it mattered. Once we got to the half way mark we all through off our bug jackets and took a ton photos with the crazy canyon in the background”.  Lucas will be leading trips and working on site this summer. This is his eighth summer at camp and his first year on staff.

EmmersonEmmerson Wilson

From Ottawa, Ontario.  Emmerson is studying biology and economics at St. Francis Xavier in Nova Scotia.  Her favorite activities include canoe tripping, cooking, playing guitar, rugby, hammocking and spending time outside.  Great Moment in Camping: “One of my greatest moments in camping has to be waking up to snow on my birthday (July 20th) last summer. It was super cold but also an awesome gift from nature.”  Emmerson will be leading trips and working on site this summer.  This is her tenth summer at camp and her second year on staff.
